Head Coach Tony Murray

I’m excited to return for another year as Head Coach of the Catawba Ridge Swim Team and continue building one of the best programs in the state. Many of you may also know me from my time as an assistant coach in 2023, or from coaching at Masons Bend and the Rays, but I’m grateful for the opportunity to keep growing this program together.

I relocated to Fort Mill with my family, including my wife and daughter, in the summer of 2021 from Silver Spring, Maryland. It was there that my passion for swimming and coaching began. After concluding my swimming career in high school and summer leagues, I began my coaching journey in 1995.

Starting in 1998, I coached club swimming under my high school coach with the Fairland Aquatic Swim Team for 16 years. During that time, I managed the advanced age group program, leading athletes to LSC titles and Eastern Zone victories, while preparing them for competitive summer leagues and senior-level swimming.

In 2014, I joined Rockville Montgomery Swim Club (RMSC), one of the country’s largest swim programs, where I led the Advanced Senior Group. There, I helped high school athletes achieve NCSA, sectional, and futures time standards, and compete in one of the nation’s fastest high school swim leagues.

In 2017, I had the opportunity to collaborate with friends at the growing All Star Aquatics (ASA) team. At ASA, I worked with both high school athletes and 10 & Under swimmers, with a strong focus on technique development. One of the most rewarding parts of that experience was watching athletes exceed their own expectations.

During this time, I also served as head coach for the Calverton Chargers, the pool where I grew up swimming. The Montgomery County Swim League, which includes over 90 teams, is one of the most competitive summer leagues in the country.

Additionally, I coached St. John’s College High School (SJC) in Washington, DC. From 2001 until my relocation to Fort Mill, I helped grow SJC’s swim team from a small, developing program into a competitive presence within the WMPSSDL, WCAC, and PVS high school leagues.

I’m excited about what we will continue to accomplish at Catawba Ridge. I have high expectations for our swimmers and know they are ready to meet the challenge. Together, we will keep building a program that competes with the best in Fort Mill by uniting our school and club athletes.

Ashley Sheets

I’m so excited to be back for my second season as an assistant coach at CRHS! It’s been such a rewarding experience already, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to continue working with this amazing group of swimmers. Coaching has always been a true passion of mine, and I love being able to encourage and support athletes both in and out of the pool.

My swimming journey began at age 6 on a summer league team in Charleston, SC, where I quickly fell in love with the sport. That passion stayed with me through my years as a sprinter at Columbia College in Columbia, SC.

Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to coach and teach swim lessons through the YMCA, which has been incredibly fulfilling. I’ve also coached the Mini Rays at the YMCA of Upper Palmetto and the Masons Bend Eagles during the summer season. I’m currently taking a short break from the Mini Rays after welcoming our first baby.

I’m looking forward to another great season—continuing to grow with the team, build strong relationships, and make lasting memories along the way!

Jon Tuttle

Jon Tuttle is excited to return to Catawba Ridge for his third season as an assistant swimming coach. As a teenager, he swam age group and in high school in Albuquerque, later continuing his swimming career at the University of Utah. He went on to play water polo in graduate school at the University of New Mexico. While there, he coached USS, high school, and summer league teams, and has taught countless swim lessons to kids—something he continues to do for the Rock Hill School District. Jon and his wife retired to Rock Hill in 2024 after careers at Francis Marion University in Florence, where he served as Director of University Honors and she as Director of Student Housing. They have three children and three grandchildren.
